An In-service Program for School Leadership Teams September 22nd, 23rd, & 24th 2023 《学校领导团队的在职计划2023 年 9 月 22 日、23 日和 24 日星期五》
Specifically designed with principals, pedagogical leaders, and academic directors in mind, this experiential learning symposium has been designed to allow participants to experience the art and science of facilitate learning through hands on practice. During this 3-day event invited participants will engage in a variety of workshops along with experiential learning and cultural activities. Each activity will place you at the center of learning, so be prepared to get your hands dirty. Finally, by the end of this event, school leaders will have gained first-hand knowledge of what it is like to learn by doing and how to facilitate academic programs that uphold the highest academic standards while engaging students in authentic real-world learning activities that will prepare them for the new global economy. After gaining these invaluable insights into teaching and learning participants will be better equipped to help guide their schools towards developing new academic programs that will set their schools apart from the rest.

With a blended learning approach that includes both in-depth lectures and hands on activities, school leaders will be forced to question their own preconception of education while also getting the opportunity to experience learning firsthand through a variety of guided practice activities. The opening keynote address is the result of years of research and will explore how our own perceptions of STEM education is limited by established paradigms that we don’t even know we have. This opening keynote address will then be followed by our experiential learning sessions which will place our participants at the center of learning. With a mix of STEM, arts, and culture activities our participants will gain a wide range of experiences that will place them at the center of learning. While these workshops will focus heavily on hands-on and experiential activities, logistics and educational pedagogies will also be explored and elaborated during each workshop. Finally, our lecture series will offer an intensive crash course into a wide range of STEM projects ideas that focus on how we can apply Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics in an authentic way to solve a variety of real-world problems.

By the end of this intensive experiential and STEM leadership program, participants will have gained a better understanding the art and science of facilitating learning for life. Participants will have also been exposed to numerous projects ideas that will provide students with authentic and engaging project ideas that support the core curricula in new and exciting ways while also upholding the highest possible learning standards.

The first in a series of educational symposiums, the “Facilitating Experiential and STEM Learning Opportunities” symposium is an ambitious undertaking that has been designed to empower school leaders. During this 3-day event participants will experience and learn first-hand the benefits of developing practical experiential learning. Taking our participants out of standard test-oriented classroom environment, we hope to reintroduce a sense of wonder and curiosity that has often been lost due to our over reliance on standardized testing and curricula – and bring education back to its roots of preparing students to interact with the world around them in a meaningful way.

While you may ask, why is this symposium specifically directed towards academic leaders instead of subject specialists? And the answer is quite simple! We wish to expose and empower academic leaders to alternative educational paradigms. This in-turn will help them facilitate discussions in their schools that will lead the development of innovative academic programs, rigorous academic standards, while also placing that knowledge into an authentic real-world context that will prepare students for the new global economy. Finally, all our future symposiums will be dedicated in-service programs aimed at developing specific educational niches and will offer targeted support and training for STEM teachers and facilitators, and even Special Education and Resource Teachers (SERTs).

Programme Facilitators《项目促进者》
Scott Campbell is the Founder and CEO of Sino-Exchange, a small not-for-profit educational charity. Originally from industry, Scott operated his own company from 2006 until 2012. During this time, he developed and patented the world’s first 3D-RML technology. Holding technical degrees in commercial photography, graphic design, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Scott has a strong foundation in creative design & innovation. Then in 2012 Scott transitioned from the private sector into the educational industry and holds additional degrees in the fields of technological education, Bachelor of Education, and a Masters of Business Administration. With 3 teaching licenses from around the world coupled with his vast industry and educational knowledge, Scott is a rare gem. However, despite his impressive CV Scott is less concerned about how he can profit from his expertise and is more concerned about how he can use his knowledge for the greater good.

John Bairamian is a true missionary of international education and international workshop leader. John found and led schools in the USA, Lebanon, UAE, and Armenia, and is now the head of the education department at Hau Quan Village. With more than 33 years of IB, AP, American curriculum, British Curriculum leading and generating experience under his belt, and a truly global perspective – John is a passionate educator with an incredible insight into global perspectives, cultures, and educational ideologies. Overview of the Educational Programs 《教育项目概述》
We understand that committing 3 days to anything during the start of the school year can be a massive commitment for anyone; Therefore, we have worked hard to strike a delicate balance of fun experiential and cultural learning activities with rigorous academic programs to make this a fun and educational weekend. Starting with the renowned cultural attraction, the Longhu Light show, which will be followed by a selection of amazing cultural activities that will be hosted by the village’s professional staff, the weekend is sure to be an enjoyable and memorable experience for all our participants. Coupled with a series of top-notch STEM in-service programs, this educational symposium will be equally as educational as it will be fun and enjoyable.

While some of the STEM titles may seem intimidating at first… They are not designed to turn you into a subject expert overnight. Instead, they have been created to demonstrate a world of possibilities. In these workshops we will explore how the core curricula can be infused with meaningful projects that supports the desired learning outcomes while also helping students understand the real-world application of what they are learning. In essence, these workshops are more about exploring the Theory of Knowledge and will help our participants question the nature of their own assumptions of STEM education. Thus, helping our participants develop a deeper understanding of their own beliefs in education, and how they may interoperate the core curriculum in new and novel ways going forward. Finally, future symposiums will delve much deeper into these ideas, specializing in different educational niches and providing targeted training and support that will explore novel educational pedagogies.
