The Geography Bridging course was initially designed for grade 10 students who are transitioning from a Chinese public school system to an English only or bilingual program of study. The aim of this course is to help students build Cognitive Academic Language Proficiency (CALPs) and confidence using English in an academic setting. The material covered is mostly review so keep in mind that students should be focusing on language acquisition while reinforcing ideas and concepts that they should already know; therefore, the focus should be on developing students CALPs to help prepare them for geography courses that they may take in grades 10, 11, and 12 in either a bilingual or monolingual setting.

Quizzes, Tests, and Exams can be downloaded for use in your classroom; however, to ensure that the results of summative assessments are accurate students are unable to access these resources on their own. Teachers may send a request to access these materials. Teachers will be required to submit proof that they are a teacher before access is granted to these resources. All we need from teachers to prove they are in fact a teacher and not a student is one of the following: a work email address that ends in a “.edu”, a copy of a teaching licences, a scanned copy of a degree, or a resume.
