Introduction to TinkerCAD TinkerCAD简介
Computer Aided Design or CAD is a computer technology that is used for design and technical documentation, which replaces manual drafting with an automated process. If you’re a designer, drafter, architect, or engineer, you’ve probably used 2D or 3D CAD programs such as AutoCAD before; however, novice designers may want to try using a more streamlined application such as TinkerCAD as they begin to learn the basics. Our recommendation is to start with TinkerCAD and then progress into more advanced software titles as when you are ready.

To help you with the following projects a list of commonly used keyboard shortcuts has been provided. Although it is possible to use TinkerCAD without knowing any of these shortcuts, you will find it much easier and faster to complete your designs if you know at least some of the most commonly used shortcuts. Things like “copy‘, “paste“, “undo“, and “redo” are the same as any other program that you use on a regular basis and will be easy to pick up and learn. Other shortcuts such as “drop“, “mirror” and “transparency” are a bit more specific to CAD programs but should be easy enough to learn to remember. These commands just use the letters “d“, “m“, and “t” respectively.

For English speakers the keyboard shortcuts and commands found in most software applications and programming languages can be quite logical; however, the logic behind the these keyboard shortcuts and commands may be less evident for non-native speakers. Therefore, taking the time to learn vocabulary specific to your field of study can be very beneficial.

For instance, the keyboard shortcut “Ctrl” + “C” will allow you to “copy” an item in almost any program regardless of the language. In Object Orientated Programming (OOP) languages the abbreviation “int” is used to represent “integer”, and when programming websites the HTML Tag <p> is used to define a “paragraph”. There are countless more examples that could illustrate this exact same point.
