Simple Glider Design Templates 简易滑翔机设计模板

Based on the students initial observation reports, each group will need to discuss the possible design solutions that each person has proposed and assessed. Once everyone in the group has agreed upon a particular design strategy, construction of the plane can commence.

Students should start with building the tail of the plane first as this is the easiest part of the plane that does not provide any customization options. The nose of the plane is the next section of the plane that should be constructed. The nose section has two options: a rectilinear option that is slightly easier to build, and rounded option that is harder to construct. Both designs fly equally as well so students can choose the design that meets their skill level.

Once the tail and the nose of the plane have been completed students should complete the detail drawing activity before moving on to building the fuselage and the wing.

The fuselage is much more complicated and will require a number of steps to complete so it is important that students follow their teacher’s instruction. At this stage students will be able to start customizing their plane. When designing the fuselage each group can decide if they want to make the plane a bit shorter or longer than the standard design. The length of the fuselage will have a negligible impact on the planes performance but will affect how easy or difficult it is to fine tune the balance of the plane once the wing has been made.

Finally, the wing is the last and most difficult part of the plane to make. There are lots of options to choose from when designing the wing. Will the group make a rectangular wing or a tapered straight wing? Will the wing profile be flat, or will dihedral, cranked dihedral or polyhedral added? Will the wingspan be relatively small or as wide as possible? And finally will the wing be swept back or not?

With all the possible customization options a total of 128 possible variations of the simple glider can be made. This allows students many customization opportunities to explore and test while still providing structure and support to maximize the student success rate.
