Throughout this course you will complete a number of practice activities that will be structured similar to what you will encounter on a standardized English examination such as a TOEFL or IELTS test; however, each activity will be modified based on the current classroom learning objectives.

Project Overview 项目概述

For this activity you will be required to write an essay that states, explains, and supports your opinion on a given topic. An effective essay will normally contain a minimum of 300 words; however, it is recommended that you write more than the minimum. You should attempt to write about 350 words for your response. However, you should not simply list your ideas. On a standardized English exam you must always create a structure response that supports your opinions with facts or details.

写一篇文章，陈述、解释并支持你对某一主题的观点。一篇有效的文章通常至少包含300字，建议尝试写约350个字左右。不要简单的罗列观点，用事实或细节来支撑观点。

During most standardized English exams you will only be given 30 minutes to write your independent writing response; however you will be provided with extra time for practice activities in class. Just focus on developing your ideas as much as possible at this time. Once you have mastered your ability to write a detailed response you can then start working on reducing the amount of time it takes you to write it.

Notice: Do not worry about your score at this time. The main objective of this activity is to provide a benchmark to analyze your growth throughout the course and to help your instructor get to know you a bit better in the process.

Self Introduction 自我介绍

In this short essay you will write between 250-350 words about yourself. You should include basic information such as your name, age, and where you are from. Then select several topics (2 minimum – 4 maximum) from the list below.

写一篇250-350 字的自我介绍，包括基本信息，如姓名、年龄和来自哪里，并从下表中选择2-4个话题进行阐述。

Your essay should be between 3 to 6 paragraphs long. You will be required to have an opening paragraph about yourself, and at least 1 body paragraph that answers any of the question prompts that are provided below. This will then be followed by a closing paragraph.
