Inspired By Nature

This project is all about drawing inspiration from nature. For inspirations and guidance students should refer to the ART NOUVEAU movement. During this time artists were known to simplify the world that they saw around them and simplified natural forms into abstract shapes that were often used as praters.

Illustration – Non Realism

Rationale:Inspiration can come from anywhere if we only take the time to stop and look at things we overlook everyday. This exploration of illustration is meant to help individuals to seek inspiration from their surrounds, and to look at things in ways they normally would not have in the past.
Objectives:Find a small object from nature to bring to class that you would normally never look at, with enough detail that you can sketch several angles of the same object.
Process:Sketch the whole item on a piece of paper.Sketch part of the item. (a detail)Sketch a small detail of the item. (a small detail)Sketch a stylized illustration capturing the emotion, or how the item makes you feel.
Procedure:Develop original sketches of an item from nature.Digitize and clean up scans.Develop a portfolio page showcasing all your images.Save a copy of your work as both a PSD with layers, as well as a PDF to be printed.
